The KOWA brand was one of the first Japanese sourced prismatic `spotting scopes` brands, first appearing I think in the 1950`s. The brand has since then been at the forefront of optical design producing both binoculars and scopes though they are probably better known for their spotting scopes especially in the U. Very popular with birders, they have consistently been strong sellers due to fine optical ability and good build quality.

The latest top KOWA scopes & eyepieces are VERY expensive today! Here is a g ood outfit for someone; a KOWA TS61 1 ANGLE BODIED 60mm SPOTTING SCOPE with FULLY MULTI COATED OPTICS; twinned with an excellent later type KOWA 30x WIDE EYEPIECE; and.. A green SKUA STAY-ON CASE with shoulder strap which I believe has been fitted since scope was new.. A n excellent STITZ Hi-Low P270 TRIPOD which has a maximum normal working height of 1 52 cm approx.

And allows low level work with the legs splayed and locked. The TS611 features a sliding lens hood, a rubberised finish to the hood and around the front of the scope, plus the later type KOWA eyepiece has a rubberised wind up eyecup.

Both eyepiece and objective lens caps are present. Both scope and tripod appear to be virtually unmarked a part from some fading to the rubberised parts of the scope body due entirely to it having been in its stay-on case for all its life. T he scopes high resolution optics are clear and bright delivering great images and the mechanical operations are all smooth and pleasant to use.

Defects: a few internal dust speck s ; the wind up eyepiece is a little wobbly in operation; some fading to the rubberised parts of the scope body; the stay on case and the tripod ha ve some age related wear. I take great care examining, using and describing the binoculars and scopes i sell, and always get a second opinion. Also, please remember, everyone`s eyes are different....
